Stitched Story Collage

“My work uses a lot of re-cycled paper/ card/ scraps of letters and envelopes, pieces of ribbon, stamps and stickers.

Children could use bits and pieces they find around their home to create a collage, or as i like to call it a “Stitched-Story-Collage”.

Collect items like these, thinking as widely as possible, and also ask family and friends to collect any materials that would be of use. Create a piece of art work in a sketchbook, inspired by these collage elements.
My themes are mainly based on favourite childhood memories, for example favourite sweet from local sweet shops, or a trip out to the seaside with grandparents, Once you have your materials and memories, that’s when the story begins.”

I think Naomi’s sketchbooks are really inspiring and I’m going to get my sewing machine out right now!! Personally, I like the 2d more than the 3d work, but it’s all very subjective. Go girl! I think you’re really talented.

We are going to be creating work together with two other female artists from The Fringe, Doncaster Visual Artists Network for the New Year.
The exhibition of our textile/fibre/paper work at The Point in Doncaster, will be based on Childrens colouring & join-the-dots books, in response to the Hayward Gallery touring show of the Chapman Brothers Etchings at our Museum & Art Gallery, Doncaster.
We will also be offering education workshops & talks by the artists involved through darts, Doncaster Community Arts.
