Gothic Still Life – Drawing Skulls and Candles
Drawing Skulls and Candles By Sheila Ceccarelli
In this Experimental Drawing Workshop, teenagers were given the opportunity to analyse the relationships between objects in a still life inspired by the autumn, death and decay. The still life was fun to set up and the teenagers enjoyed the Gothic, seasonal themes. The drawings took approximately one hour to complete after a 15 minute warm up exercise Introducing Ink and Still Life.
Though this workshop was done with teenagers it can be transferred across any age group and all drawing mediums. We chose ink and pastels for the transparent and translucent effects of the wash repelling away from soft pastel marks.
