Designer and illustrator Tracy McGuinness-Kelly describes her creative process behind the co-creation of an indoor and an outdoor mural at two schools in England, to which the children contributed their own imagery.

This project was shared with AccessArt as part of the 40 Artist Educator Project, funded by Arts Council England, aiming to highlight and celebrate artist-led teaching and facilitation.

School Murals Inside and Out: Towards the Bigger Picture

Tracy worked on two murals at two different schools, one inside, and one outside. The creation of both murals shared many similar processes, in particular the sensitive way in which Tracy enabled the children to create their own imagery which contributed towards a shared outcome. Here Tracy shares her methodology and ideas.
