How to Use Simple Thermoplastic Moulding Techniques

This module will demonstrate how to use very simple thermoplastic moulding techniques to create brightly coloured, organic shapes out of plastic.

This is an introduction to basic industrial process – using coloured glue pellets, hot glue guns, aluminium strips and moulds to cast plastic shapes.

This workshop was part of Laura Kohler’s Kinetic Mobile Workshop, where teachers made Kinetic Mobiles inspired by Alexander Calder.

Teachers learnt how to make plastic shapes using plastic injection moulding, as components for kinetic mobiles so they could then go on and teach children the process in their own class rooms.

To find out how to make a Kinetic Mobile go to Kinetic Mobile Workshop with Laura Kohler on line resource.
