Using Sketchbooks to Take Ownership of Ideas

This workshop happened after a wonderful series of workshops for AccessArt’s Experimental Drawing Class by artist Melissa Pierce Murray, who had used sessions to share her approach to making and thinking about sculptural relationships and drawing processes.

Melissa’s workshops had been highly energetic sessions and ideas had moved along quickly, with teenagers producing a huge body of work.

In this session, I felt that it was time for students to reflect, consolidate and take ‘ownership’ of the ideas explored, and an opportunity to use sketchbooks as a place to visually develop and record thought processes.
