A Sketchbook Pathway 3: Let Go Of Expectations & Let Things Collide

<< Back to The Sketchbook Pathway <<

“Where do ideas come from? From looking at one thing and seeing another.” – Saul Bass, Designer

Creativity happens when elements collide, and we are given time and space to play with those elements. Let sketchbooks encourage you to blur lines between subject areas.

Everything is up for grabs: the whole world can be filtered through us into our sketchbooks. Encourage pupils to think like a polymath rather than a one-subject specialist.

The more you give space to a variety of ideas and experiences, the more dynamic and exciting the sketchbook will become. Be brave and let go of the lead a little… Try exercises like these to encourage divergent thinking.
