The IMPRESSABILITY Project

Many thanks to Sharon Aldrick, the Creative Producer of the Impressability Project from the Youth Arts Warehouse in New South Wales, Australia for sharing this wonderful project with AccessArt. We’re sure it will inspire!

Over a period of 5 months three artists in residence mentored and collaborated with a wonderful group of emerging artists with disabilities, producing a large-scale exhibition under the New Works funding from Arts NSW AUSTRALIA. Produced by Regional Youth Support Services Gosford NSW Australia Youth Arts Warehouse.

Students worked with Gemma Garner ‘Performance Art’, Angelo Kehagias ‘Digital Media’ and Kiera O’Toole ‘Mark making & drawing.’

“Rachel has contributed some great resources to AccessArt and we really like how this idea captures the concept of ‘returning’ – something that school children will have processed over the past year. We love how this activity encourages hands to feel and move paint about freely – to experience its qualities and tactile nature. You could try this in your setting using different migratory birds such as Ospreys or Swifts as inspiration, with the children looking at images of these birds before trying some observational drawing.” – Rachel, AccessArt.
