Adding Colour to Shared Ink Drawing Inspired by “Where the Wild Things Are”

This resource forms part of a series which enables primary-aged children to explore drawing and making inspired by Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are”. See all the resources in this series here.

In this session (the 3rd in the series), children continue working on their shared ink drawing, this time adding colour to create mood and atmosphere with soft pastels.

Imagined landscape drawing inspired by Maurice Sendak

You Will Need:

  • Soft pastels
  • Images from “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak

Time: 45 mins

Outcome:

  • The experience of making a shared drawing.
  • The opportunity to explore using soft pastels and explore colour mixing.
  • The creation of a shared drawing which can be used to inspire further artwork.
