Subject Matter for Drawing

Subject Matter for Drawing

AccessArt has been running drawing workshops with children teenagers and adults for many years, as well as sessions in schools with pupils and teachers. Our sessions usually encourage an exploration of drawing media and approaches. The sessions are open-ended and never didactic. We realise now how valuable a thoughtful approach to subject matter can be.

Just like an appropriate icebreaker or warm-up exercise at the beginning of a session can help shift perceptions and help settle students into a certain frame of mind, carefully considering which subject matter will help students best achieve the aim of the session, is crucial. With this in mind we have compiled a list of resources within the AccessArt site which rely on thoughtful subject matter. We hope it gives you plenty of ideas and inspiration for subject matter on which to draw.

The list below is not exhaustive. Please see all our drawing resources here.
