Drawing Insects in Black Pen

When to stop?
Isn’t it hard to know when to stop? When is a drawing finished? This is a recurring question that all practicing artists ask themselves: ‘Is it finished’?
But in teaching too, I often ask myself ‘how long should I push an exercise’? and base most of my teaching around when it feels like ‘time to stop’. You sort of know when an exercise has been exhausted and it’s time to pull something else out of the hat.
This week, when I was teaching the Experimental Drawing Class, I introduced students to working in black pen. This followed on from last week’s session Drawing Insects with a Hard (H) Pencil, where students drew insects small in ‘H’ pencils.
