What You Can Expect from the Teaching Art Well Modules

Expert-led, Evidence-informed

The Teaching Art Well modules below have been carefully designed to share the AccessArt approach – a philosophy and pedagogy which has developed over the past 26 years. Our vision has helped redefine what arts education can be, and enables hundreds of thousands of teachers and pupils to appreciate the value of a rich arts education.

Trusted Content and Approach

AccessArt is a Subject Association for Art, a Registered Visual Arts Education Charity, and we are backed by the British Educational Suppliers Association, reflecting our commitment to the highest standards in education, so you can be sure of the quality of our training.

Cost-effective

Access to the modules is completely free of charge to AccessArt members making this an incredibly cost-effective way to develop your skills, understanding and practice.

Balances Pedagogy and Practice

Our inclusive approach balances pedagogy and practice by combining inspiring, artist-led approaches to teaching and learning, with opportunities for educators to actively explore materials, processes, and creative thinking, building confidence in both why we teach art and how we teach it.

Supportive Course Structure

Each module comprises of two Zoom sessions. The first of which is an initial Zoom Welcome Session where we introduce the ideas behind the module, and provide you with an opportunity to meet your fellow attendees. This is followed by access to the Courses section on the AccessArt website, where you’ll find instructions for self-guided learning – fully accessible and easy to follow. This will include resources on the AccessArt website and links to activities and approaches for you to absorb and try in your own time and space. You are then invited to a final live Zoom Reflection Session with course participants so that you can feedback, discuss and reflect upon your experience.

Flexible, Accessible and Adaptable

Our modular structure enables you to take the courses which feel most relevant to you. You can choose to take all modules in their sequential order, take the modules out of order at the times which work best for you, or just choose one or more module which you feel is particularly relevant to your practice.

If your school is a multi-user member of AccessArt, you can also run the modules via staff training sessions.

AccessArt Certified

Upon completion of each module, attendees will receive a module certificate so that participation can be recorded as part of individual and whole-school CPD provision, supporting ongoing professional learning and practice.

Suitable for All Educators

Our courses are designed to support teachers at all stages, whether you are currently in training, an early career teacher, or an experienced educator looking to refresh your practice or even lead the subject. Our courses are also suitable for artist educators looking to build their understanding of teaching art in the classroom setting.
