AccessArt’s organisational values are important at every level.

Their meaning is enriched by context: they guide how we work as a team, shape the work we deliver, and influence our relationships with users. These values not only reflect how AccessArt aims to exist in the world, but also express how creativity can best be nurtured. We hope these values resonate with you, the user, and inspire how you enable creativity in yourself and those around you.

Art makes us human.
Making, talking about, and experiencing art, in all its forms, gives expression to our shared humanity, helping us feel, express, connect, make sense of our lives and imagine what could be. These experiences nurture our sense of self and our relationship with the world and should be made available to all.

Everyone has creative potential.
Everyone has a right to experience and make art throughout life, in ways that are meaningful to them. We challenge the barriers that deny those opportunities and prevent people developing their creative potential.

Kindness gives us creative courage.
When we feel safe, valued and supported, we can take creative risks, push at our edges, develop new skills and capabilities, and grow as individuals. Everyone deserves those foundations, whatever their starting point, and we all play a part in enabling each other.

The creative journey itself has value.
Play, curiosity, experimentation and reflection deepen our learning. When we hold ideas lightly, we allow unexpected discoveries, connections and individual expression to surface and flourish.

Making is an intelligence of the body.
Through sensory contact with the physical world, and through the exploration and transformation of materials and ideas, we can discover and share new ways of knowing and being.

Generosity builds community.
Everyone has something valuable to contribute. Sharing ideas, skills and experiences builds stronger communities, and different experiences, cultures and ways of seeing enrich art and our understanding of one another.

We turn belief into action.
Through everyday choices and collective advocacy, we stand up for art and the people, time, resources and support it needs to thrive.
