Exploring Materials: Printing Ink

A Screenprinting Hack

Printing ink comes in oil-based or water-based forms for different types of printmaking. Its sticky, treacle-like consistency helps it to transfer cleanly onto paper or other surfaces without running or soaking in too quickly.

For schools on a budget, printing medium can be added to standard acrylic paints to thicken it up to act as printing ink.
