Primal Painting
By Marijke Liefting and Iris Verbakel
In this resource, Marijke Liefting and Iris Verbakel, art teachers from the Netherlands, share a workshop session in which children explore a kitchen garden as a source for natural pigments. We love the open-ended, exploratory approach, which enables children to take ownership of their learning and to discover their own colour palette.

What a delightful lesson on exploration!!! I am going to try it with Transition children on Bathurst Island….We have a small garden but it does not look as bountiful as yours. Am I Game?

Inspirational. Thank you so much for making me excited again. It absolutely fits my pedagogical beliefs. Can’t wait to have explore the earth with the children.
