#BeACreativeProducer – Animating a Demonstration!
By Paula Briggs
In November 2018 the teenage #BeACreativeProducer team were invited to present their project at the Houses of Parliament. See this clip in its final context in Part 2 Scene 5 Tips for Helping Creative Juices Flow.
In the meeting, the team invited the audience to write a message in support of art education on mini banners we had made before hand.
Back in the studio, the team animated the banners into a march.
How we Animated the Demonstration…
We began by using a glue gun to attach cardboard figures to wooden blocks to help them stand up.

The mini banners, completed by the audience, were attached to the figures to make a crowd.

We built a green screen from green card, and the figures were positioned on the “road”. We choose an image of a street scene with perspective for the background on the green screen. (We used Stop Motion Pro App).

The “crowd” was gradually moved forward, (and sideways at time to create a more “animated” demo) and frames taken on Stop Motion Pro app.

The movie was then imported into iMovie to edit.
The team also recorded their voices chanting some of the slogans on the placards. We discussed requirements for the soundtrack (marching bands, drums, brass band instruments, street noises etc) and team member Alex then created the sound track using Logic Pro X.

Very many thanks to Rowan, Amelia, Lluis, Alex, and all members of the APPG on the 13th November!
Many thanks to Susan Coles for the Mini-Banner idea.
