Post Office by Rosalie Schweiker: An Interactive Community Art Project

Rosalie Schweiker

Interactive Community Art Project

Artist Rosalie Schweiker describes how she created an interactive community art project in a secondary school, where the pupils took on the roles of designer/makers and writers for the project.

This project was shared with AccessArt as part of the 40 Artist Educator Project, funded by Arts Council England, aiming to highlight and celebrate artist-led teaching and facilitation.

Post Office by Rosalie Schweiker

This resource describes a post office, which was set up over a period of six weeks at Frances Bardsley Academy in Romford in 2011. The post office, which was initiated and developed by the artist Rosalie Schweiker in conversation with the school’s permanent resident artist Denise Hickey, developed into a cross curricular collaboration between students, teachers and other school staff.
