Colour is used by artists in lots of different ways. It can be a fun way to express individual personality, evoke an emotion and create dimension. It can also be used to help guide a viewers eye around an artwork. 

Colours may compliment each other, create contrast and can also be used symbolically.

It can feel overwhelming trying to understand the theory behind it, but colour can also be experienced and taught intuitively.
