Exploring Materials: Paper

Paper Burger by Nathan Ward

Paper is an extremely versatile material, not just acting as a surface on which to paint or draw, but also as a craft and construction material.

Paper comes in a range of different weights, also known as “gsm.” Paper with a lower gsm is thinner and often cheaper, making it accessible and suitable for dry materials such as pencil or crayon, while paper with a higher gsm is thicker and better suited to construction work or wet materials.

Find resources on this page which help aid an appreciation and exploration of paper, and resources which develop the exploration further through projects and pathways.
