Working with acrylic paint across a variety of surfaces, Lubaina Himid explores the history and cultural impact of Black people through her art. Initially trained in theatre design, her work has a strong narrative quality, telling stories from the perspective of Black experience while exploring themes of identity, history, and what it means to belong.
