Exploring Materials: Mixed Media

Mixed media describes artworks that bring together different materials and processes. It can also cross disciplines; for example, combining painting practises with printmaking or drawing can transform artwork into something entirely new.

When mixing media, it’s important to have an understanding of how different materials respond to each other. For artists, they seek to discover and understanding materials by experimenting in their sketchbooks.

By nature, working with different media gives opportunity for greater exploration, experimentation and invention. Have fun exploring our mixed media resources.
