Supersized Jewellery
By Paula Briggs

In the summer of Spielberg’s BFG, I thought it would be fun (and a sculptural challenge) to make some really large jewellery, so following on from our sketchbook work based upon observational and experimental drawings of gemstones, children aged 8, 9 and 10 from the AccessArt Mini Art School spent a happy couple of days creating their own supersized rings!
We started out with some sketchbook work – not so much to design on paper prior to making – but to get our creative juices flowing…

I love the scale of the pieces – amazing that they evolved from such basic materials as pebbles and modroc!
