Drawing Sweets and How to Texture with Pencil and Graphite

Drawing Sweets By Sheila Ceccarelli

This warm up exercise was created to give teenagers at AccessArts’ Experimental Drawing Class the chance to experiment with introducing texture into their drawings and sketches without getting bogged down making their drawings too graphic and literal.

How to texture with drawing mediums, such as graphite, pencil and charcoal, is a challenge for the most established artist, but the teenagers were able to let go of preconceived ideas of what was expected and have a go at working their graphite into the paper with excellent results.

These drawings were made in preparation for a collage later.

Exercise for Introducing How to Texture with Pencil and Graphite.

This exercise tries to take the pressure off and take away any pre-conceived ideas of how you think your finished drawings should look. Do not spend more than a few minutes on each drawing.
